Cool Farang was born from a mix of frustration and a desire to find practical solutions in the Land of Smiles.
As part-time expats in Thailand, my wife and I were often caught off guard by things that seemed to appear out of nowhere: election days with alcohol bans, unexpected public holidays, bank closures, immigration updates, poor air quality, and other local events that could suddenly affect daily life.
We found that social media was often too late, difficult to navigate, and sometimes filled with conflicting or inaccurate information. Important updates were scattered across different groups and platforms, making it hard to find trustworthy information when it mattered most.
By the time information started spreading, the event had already happened or plans had already been disrupted.
So I decided to build the app I wished I had myself.
Cool Farang is designed to provide useful, location-based information for expats, digital nomads, long-term visitors, and anyone living or traveling in Thailand. The app gathers information from official and trusted external sources and presents it in a simple, clean, and easy-to-use format.
Stay informed with weather forecasts, PM2.5 air quality, holidays and closures, upcoming events, immigration information, emergency numbers, and nearby places. Receive notifications for extreme weather conditions and important holidays and closures, helping you stay prepared wherever you are in Thailand.
There are no advertisements, no user accounts, no tracking, and no unnecessary complexity. Just practical information when you need it.
What started as a personal project may hopefully help others who face the same challenges.
Cool Farang is available for a small one-time lifetime fee of just 79 THB. This helps cover hosting, data and maintenance costs. No subscriptions, no ads — just reliable Thailand information whenever you need it.
