Cool Farang does not require users to create an account and does not collect account information.
With the user's permission, the app may access the device location to provide relevant information such as weather conditions, air quality (PM2.5), events, emergency information, public holidays, bank holidays, nearby places, and immigration-related information.
The app can also be used without location access by manually selecting a city.
Data Processing and Storage
Cool Farang may process the selected city or approximate location coordinates to request relevant app content. Some requests are handled through the Cool Farang backend at https://coolfarang.com/api/v1, which helps protect provider credentials, normalize data, cache results, and filter unusable source links before data is shown in the app.
The app may store limited information locally on the device, such as the last selected city, app preferences, cached weather data, notification settings, and widget or status information. This local data is used to make the app faster and more useful and is not used to create a user account.
The Cool Farang backend and hosting providers may process limited technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as IP address, user agent, request metadata, selected city, approximate coordinates, timestamps, logs, rate limiting data, and cache entries.
If the user grants permission, Cool Farang may send local device notifications regarding:
- Weather alerts
- Air quality alerts
- Public holidays and closures
- Currency exchange rate changes
- Events and local activities
- Important travel or immigration information
Cool Farang uses information from third-party sources, including weather services, air quality services, government websites, immigration resources, news providers, mapping services, tourism and event providers.
When users open external links, they leave the Cool Farang application. The privacy policies of those external websites and services apply to any information collected by them.
Cool Farang does not sell personal information. Limited technical information may be processed by hosting providers and data providers only as needed to deliver app features, maintain security, prevent abuse, cache results, troubleshoot issues, or comply with legal obligations.
Data Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect information processed by the application.
Children's Privacy
Cool Farang is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
